Water-Themed Photo Contest

To draw attention to the importance of water, our source of life, and to saving it, the Rotaract Club of Mersin is holding a photo contest.

All you have to do is post a photo or design with the main theme of “WATER” on your Instagram account, paste the text below as a comment, and tag the “2430suprojesi” account. Successful photos will be evaluated and rewarded.

- Fixing leaky taps at home saves 1 ton of water per tap per year, - Turning off the tap while shaving or brushing your teeth saves 12 tons per person per year, - Cutting your shower time by 1 minute saves 18 tons per person per year, - Washing dishes in a dishwasher instead of by hand saves an average of 40 tons per year, - Washing fruit and vegetables in a bowl of water instead of by hand saves an average of 18 tons per year for a family of four.

- We can save water by reusing non-drinking water several times — for example, by washing our balconies with the water we used for fruit and vegetables or the water from the washing machine. - We should not flush the toilet unnecessarily. A single flush uses 10 liters of water. If each member of a family of four flushes the toilet unnecessarily once a day, the family wastes 16 tons of water a year.
