Water Conservation Photo Contest
To raise awareness of the importance of water, our source of life, and the need to save it, the Rotaract Club of Mersin is holding a photo contest.
All you need to do is post a photo or design with “WATER” as its main theme on your Instagram account, paste the text below as a comment, and tag the “2430suprojesi” account. The best photos will be judged and awarded prizes.
- Fixing leaky taps at home saves 1 ton of water per tap each year. - Turning off the tap while shaving or brushing your teeth saves 12 tons of water per person each year. - Cutting your shower time by 1 minute saves 18 tons of water per person each year. - Washing dishes in a dishwasher instead of by hand saves an average of 40 tons of water a year. - Washing fruit and vegetables in a bowl of water instead of under the tap saves a family of four an average of 18 tons of water a year.
- We can also save by reusing non-drinking water several times — for example, washing our balconies with the water we used to rinse fruit and vegetables or with the water from the washing machine. - We shouldn't flush the toilet unnecessarily. A single flush uses 10 litres of water. If each member of a family of four flushes once a day for no reason, they waste 16 tons of water a year.
